Taiwan is known for their teahouses either it's a social spots for friends or bringing your homework/laptops while having a cup of beverage. Saint's Alp definitely feels like home with there bubble tea and small bites. It's located near NYU so you see mostly college As usual, I always order my Taro milk tea. I was a little agitated that they added bubble (black starchy balls) even though I asked them not to put it in my drink. I haven't try the food but definitely next time, I will. Hopefully very soon and I will post it.

Chicken Leg Over Rice - $4.50

As a warning, it's a small shop; probably the size of two Starbucks restrooms. There is a sit down table but only for 2 -3 people and it's not a place to lounge for a long time - just quick eating and out. It's a great place for a quick simple and cheap eat. My mom remembered the shop back in Taiwan when she was a teenager and she said the shop's decor hasn't changed. As for my chicken leg over rice with meat sauce and veggie - it was soooo YUMMMYY!!!!

My coworker told me about www.midtownlunch.com and I came across a Taiwanese food truck in Manhattan. I mean, The only place to find Taiwanese restaurants are in Queens and to find not only a Taiwanese eatery but in a food truck. Luckily, it's close by me on Monday and Tuesday since they have their territories everyday. I waited on 45th and 6th ave at 12pm. I was a little late because the line was extremely long. I waited for almost an hour in the hot day. But I must say that it was well worth it. The chicken was crispy and juicy and the sauce was so yummy.

It a small place but it a place I've been going since I was in high school. I love the food because it brings me back to my childhood. Taiwanese foods are different from any typical Chinese food. I love the small portion, appetizers, that very typical Taiwanese, such as smelly tofu and oyster pancake (picture displayed below). The restaurant has a 2 entrees with soup for $14.95; additional entree for $7.00, which is great. We ordered shrimps with green peas, shredded pork with tofo, pork livers with veggies, smelly tofu, oyster pancakes and clams soup. It was very satisfying. The whole meal came out as $40.00 with tips. I ended with a full belly, as well as the 4 big guys I was with.
