The family took my mom to Sik Gaek for their awesome seafood. And this time, we got crazy and ordered a lot of seafood. I love their complimentary fried eggs, spicy thick pasta and steamed egg bowl. We, again, ordered the pot of Clams, mussels and shrimps. But, we ordered the huge pot that comes with a live lobster, crabs, clams, mussels, calamari, noodle and veggies. Not pleased with the fact that the lobsters were half cooked and still alive. It was moving for a good while until one of the staffs came over with scissor to cut it apart. Not also I screamed the top of my lung, probably I should scream out PETA, but I was shaking until he was done cutting. I refused the to eat the huge pot until the end they handled me a bowl of noodle and veggies from the same pot with the sad lobsters - I feel bad for that. Overall, the food was good, the vibe was great and the whole crew came out to sing for my mom and put a ridiculous fro on my mom. Pic below.

My brother has been dying to go to Sik Gaek for the longest for their late night seafood grubs. The place run by young Korean staffs. We came in the beginning of the Fifa World Cup so they were rooting for South Korea. They were all dressed up with Korean flags and cute face paint. It's definitely a good place to come after a night clubbing or being insomniac with a hunger craving. If you love love (yea, I worte it twice) seafood then this is the place for you. Not a cheap place but the price is reasonable. They have this killer watermelon filled with sake that costs around $80. If you ordered a pot of seafood, the soup is transferred into a noodle soup for free. Great vibe.

I've been going to BookChangDong for almost a year with my family. The place is small but very cozy. Parking can be a little difficult because their spots are limited. The restaurant is right next to fay da bakery, supermarket and East Buffet for last minute shopping. We usually get the booth everytime we go to BookChangDong. We all ended up ordering soondubo since it's 9 bucks - yeas 9 bucks. Well it used to be 8 bucks but I guess economy is doing bad. Still can't complain because it still a great deal. The staffs speak Mandarin, Korean, English and Spanish, if you count the bus boys. Service was quick and manageable.Of course, I ordered seafood soondubo and it still my favorite.

BCD Tofu house is a franchise located in California, Washington and now New York. The place was opened in September 2008 and my coworkers and I decided to go have lunch in Korean town. One of my coworkers suggested BCD Tofu House. As for someone like me that love to try different restaurant, I was all for it. The place was crowded. The place has a great dim setting. We were seated in a booth in the back. The service was friendly and quick. The beginner small dishes (typical Korean tradition) weren't enough; I wanted more variety. We all ordered soondubu - silky tofu in Korean seasoning (red pepper, soy sauce and garlic) in stone pot for 9.95 (lunch special). Very steamy hot and delicious. They served us a little soupy bowl with a little rice which hit the spot. Very great place for the money and the tummy.

If you want to enjoy really good Korean food in Manhattan, you should go to Koreantown in 32nd Street between 5th and Broadway. Since it's close to my work place, I have a good walking distance to Koreantown on my lunch break.

I went to Kunjip with my father tonight. The place is cute. I sat in front of the door so I got a chilly breeze every time a new customer walks in. We managed to get a seat right when we got in but other time there will be a line by the door and a lady pouring tea while waiting. And what worst, they would make you order your food while you are waiting. Do not like to be rushed. Except for that, the food is great and the price is awesome. The place is always packed but well worth it. Oh, did I mentioned it opens 24/7 - score.

My mother and my brother decided to go a Korean supermarket around Flushing, Queens area. I had an urge to make Jap Chae at home, hopefully that lady in Itune that teaches Korean cooking will help me. We went to ASSI since it's a place we've going for a couple of years ago. I'm encountered a lady wearing a brand glasses and bag pushing her shopping cart and then stupidly knocked into bags of romaine salad. A few fell on the floor and all she did was make a "Oh" sound. I wanted to be nice and pick up a few and she'll pick the rest but she just watched like I'm a friggin servant. I was pissed and walked away with few on the floor hoping her spoiled ass would pick the rest. I saw her again and gave her the meanest look.

My brother decided to eat in the supermarket because has a huge appetite. Selection is very small, somewhat like 6 choices. It's like a ma and pop shop. The old lady with minimum English told me to point the food selections that was on the wall. I ordered Seafood noodle and my mom ordered noodle with brown sauce. We sat down on table and chair that looks like tree trunks and waited for our meals. The food was delicious and fulfilling and it's cheap.
