I visited San Diego for the Panda, Koala and... authentic Mexican Food. I love Mexican food - one of my favorites. I was referred from one of the cab drivers that I should go to Old Town Mexican Cafe since I was chatting with him that I was heading to Old Town.

Old Town San Diego is not only the birthplace of San Diego, but it is the first city in California. The State of California recognized the historic significance of Old Town and built a state park right in the heart of it. Twenty-five years ago, Old Town Mexican Café opened its doors to bring back the authentic cooking methods that were popular in the early days of San Diego. The best part is watching the famous "Tortilla Ladies of Old Town" as they prepare more than 7,000 corn and flour tortillas from scratch each day.

Old Town is a beautiful place. It stored all the antique old style look, which I appreciate the most; pottery shop, craft jewelries, homemade soaps and old style general store.

After one hour of walking around and taking pictures, I was having hunger pain. I was about to go to a fast food joint but decided that I want the real Mexican food like the homemade style - all the goods. I went to Old Town Mexican Cafe and sat in the bar section avoiding the booth. I tried their Old Town's Ultimate Margarita and it was very yummy. I ordered Shrimp Ceviche and Fish Taco. Meanwhile I was waiting for my meal, I was given a complimentary chips and salsa which was very comforting. The food arrived very quick, well, the shrimp ceviche was so delicious and juicy. And the fish taco wasn't my favorite meal but it was fulfilling. After two margaritas later, I asked for the check. The bartender, cute but could be generous with my drinks, charged me regular $7.00 price instead of the happy hour 2-for-1 special but charged me for two drinks. A little pissed but was content with the food.
