Capital Grill - Good or Bad?

I went with Vince to attend his friends' birthday dinner at Capital Grill in Connecticuit on March 8th. The bar area was crowded with affluent people waiting for their tables or dining at the bar. Sport was displaying on TV. While we were waiting for our private room, we were having drinks. One of Vince coworkers' girlfriends recommended the Pineapple martini. What unique about it was that they stored their pineapple chucks in a huge jar for aging to the right taste. Pineapple martini was really great because the pineapple and the alcohol didn't overpowered each other. It was light and tasty. I do not know the price but it was probably in the 12 or 15 range.

After 30 or 45 mins wait, we went to our seating in our cushioned chairs. The private room was filled with American paintings of ships and portraits, I think a huge Eli Whitney was displayed there. The music was cut out from our room so it sort of caused an awkwardness in the crowd. I'm assuming since we were in the private room, the greeter, server, waitstaffs and busboys were extra nice, and yes there was a greeter.

The service was very slow. Then again, the restaurant was packed at 9pm. It took us a long wait for our drinks which made the crowd very itchy for it. We started talking about drinking in our college years which broke the ice. Finally after 15-20 mins, our drinks arrived, Then we ordered our appetizers. And then a couple of minutes later after our appetizers, we ordered our entrees. (I always thought we can ordered everything is one shot.) The calamari was so delicious - I was exhaling it. I had Seared Citrus Glazed Salmon, A fillet of fresh salmon seared, brushed with our citrus honey glaze, and
served over a vegetable medley of haricots verts, roasted
Cipollini onions, and fresh asparagus - price $29.00. Everyone in the table ordered Steaks which was around $40-$50. Like most American Steakhouse, the sides are separately, so we ordered fries, which was awesome and earthy because they fried it in white truffle oil, lobster mac and cheese, which I finished it off and creamed spinach, which was $9-$12 each.

We had red wines. Then dessert. I had Vanilla Ice cream for $5.50. And rest of them had port wine, creme Brulee, cheesecake and more drinks.

After 3 hours later, we were paid our damage of $995 excluding tips but we added $90 bucks for the service. It was a great experience.

End Result - Service was amiable but very slow. Food was great but very pricey. Place was homey and comfortable.
